Whether it’s your kitchen, living room, bathroom, or kid’s rooms, these foolproof tactics will help you transform your space without breaking the bank
Paint can go a long way when it comes to renovating a room. You can paint walls, cabinets, built-ins, furniture, hardware, and more. By adding a coat of paint, you are simplifying your room and creating a fresh canvas to play with while redecorating.
Tile can give your room the extra detail it needs, without looking overloaded and cluttered. Sometimes kitchens and bathrooms can need a little extra embellishment, but its easy to over decorate these spaces when they appear to have so much space to fill.
Trim – Adding or replacing trim can be vital to the outcome of some rooms. Trim is a way to give your room a boarder to provide clean lines which are naturally, aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Even if you already have trim in a room, giving it a fresh coat of paint can transform a space.
Countertops can be tricky sometimes if you’re on a budget. If you desperately need to alter your countertops, there are affordable options. Finding granite that mimics marble or another desired look can be cheaper, and you can’t always tell a difference. You can also find paint created especially for transforming countertops. It gives the desired look without the undesired pricing!
Upholstery – Reupholstering chairs and cushions or anything honestly…is a great way to add color and detail to a room to help it achieve the style and feel you want, without having to spend a TON of money on accessories and new furniture. Want the farmhouse look? Add Gingham patterns and linen fabrics. Want a shabby chic look? Add whites and creams with textures. Want a modern appeal? Add pops of bold colors with clean lines. Changing up your Upholstery can do wonders to any room. This includes curtains, rugs, bedding, and shower curtains!
Decluttering – It is imperative to a renovation to declutter. Hiding the little knick-knacks laying around will help you achieve a clean feel while appearing as though you have more space. Instead of having 500 pictures throughout your home, create a gallery wall or two to display your family and friends without all the clutter! Another great strategy is to purchase a couple baskets from your local T.J. Maxx or Home Goods to hide ANYTHING. I use mine for crafts, kitchen gadgets, blankets, pantry storage, cleaning supplies, and shoes! I love doing this because it’s a great and inexpensive way to decorate and have more storage at the same time
Contrasting Colors – My last quick tip is to contrast your colors for an open feel! Except for having white on white, contrasting colors can create a depth that will provide your space with a more expansive feel. For example: If you were to paint your cabinets a darker color, you would want a lighter backsplash to better showcase the distance between the two. Visually, this would make your kitchen appear to be larger, than if you had dark cabinets with a dark backsplash.
